Ian Somerhalder And Nikki Reed Already Experiencing Relationship Trouble Due To Jealousy And Exes?
Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed’s relationship moved at lightning speed after they got together, and now it’s looking like the lovebirds got serious a bit too fast.
At least, this is what a recent report seems to suggest. Reed still has a working relationship with ex-husband Paul McDonald, and Star magazine is claiming that this is what’s coming between Ian Somerhalder and his new girlfriend. Ian still works with ex Nina Dobrev on The Vampire Diaries, so you’d think that he’d be a bit more understanding of Nikki’s situation.
However, according to Celeb Dirty Laundry, a jealous Somerhalder is suspicious of Reed, and he can’t stand the thought of his girlfriend spending time with her ex.
“He’s having a hard time trusting that nothing romantic is going on,” a source revealed.
According to Perez Hilton, Nikki Reed and Paul McDonald recently reunited to support breast cancer awareness. The former married couple even put their arms around one another, plastered on smiles, and posed for a few photos at Bloomingdale’s Pink Party on Thursday. However, they looked chummy, not romantic.
Nikki shared an Instagram video of herself and Paul doing a sound check at the event.
Maybe Ian is just feeling insecure after losing the girl who everyone (especially fans of The Vampire Diaries) viewed as the love of his life. Ian Somerhalder is obviously a relationship guy, and he probably doesn’t want to put a huge investment in a new romance only to see it crumble. It’s possible that losing Nina Dobrev left the actor feeling just a tad insecure, and perhaps he’s just desperate to fill the hole that she left in his life.
As mentioned above, it’s also very possible that Nikki and Ian simply got serious too fast. Perhaps Somerhalder got too clingy, which made Reed feel the need to quit spending as much time with him and to try to slow things down.
Celeb Dirty Laundry suggests that Ian Somerhalder might have trust issues because he’s cheated on women in the past. However, Gossip Cop cites another source who claims that Ian and Nikki aren’t having any problems at all.
Weirdly, there’s a reason some fans of The Vampire Diaries might want to root for Somerhalder and Reed’s relationship to fail. As The Inquisitr previously reported, Nina Dobrev is considering leaving The Vampire Diaries because Ian’s romance with Nikki is making her uncomfortable. If Reed and Somerhalder broke up, she might decide to stay on the show.
