Singer Ariana Grande ‘Honored’ By Mariah Carey Comparisons

Singer Ariana Grande has been compared to a lot of divas lately, but when it comes to Mariah Carey, the “Problem” singer doesn’t mind.

In fact, Ariana told Us Weekly recently that the comparison to singer Mariah Carey is actually “a great honor” — musically speaking, of course.

“Mariah has been a huge influence on me since I was a little girl. I’ve even done a cover of one of her songs. I don’t think there are any negatives to being compared to one of the greatest vocalists of all time. It’s honestly a great honor.”

Ariana has made headlines for many alleged diva-like incidents lately. As previously reported by Inquistr, a blogger told BuzzFeed posted about a fan meet-and-greet that went sour when Grande failed to show much love to the contest winners who trekked out to welcome her.

The New York Daily News also reported of an incident involving Ariana that found the “Problem” singer venturing into true diva territory when she cleared an entire hotel lobby prior to her arrival.

“Before she got there she made security clear out the entire lobby. Even if you were a guest at the hotel you had to clear out,” an insider revealed. “No one could sit in the lobby, but she came in the back. She took up a unisex bathroom with her mother and father and put two bodyguards outside.”

Still, despite this negative press, singer Ariana Grande has continued to explode on the music scene. She recently performed on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live, singing her summer hit “Break Free.” She finished off her appearance on the sketch show with “Love Me Harder” featuring The Weeknd, who dropped in to share the stage.

Ariana also has made big moves in expanding her brand, announcing an equity partnership with Wat-AHHH!, a bottled water company. According to Billboard, this deal marks the first ever product endorsement for Grande, and could net the singer big gains. However, Ariana released a statement claiming her interest in the deal goes well beyond just money.

“Living a healthy lifestyle is so important to me, and this is one of the reasons I chose to partner with Wat-AAH! My fans are my everything, and because of this, I could only endorse something I believe in. Also, I love drinking water and I want to inspire my fans to do the same. Now as a partner in the company, I am excited to share Wat-AAH! with everyone!”
