Dallas’ Larry Hagman Diagnosed With Cancer

Larry Hagman, one of the stars of the former hit TV series Dallas has revealed that he has been diagnosed with cancer.

At this time Hagman has not revealed what type of cancer he has, only revealing that it is a “very common and treatable form…”

Speaking with TV Guide on Friday the actor revealed:

“As [‘Dallas character J.R. Ewing] I could get away with anything — bribery, blackmail and adultery, but I got caught by cancer. I do want everyone to know that it is a very common and treatable form of cancer. I will be receiving treatment while working on the new ‘Dallas ‘series. I could not think of a better place to be than working on a show I love, with people I love. Besides, as we all know, you can’t keep J.R. down!”

Larry played Texas tycoon J.R. Ewing from 1978 through 1991 and he’ll report to work on Monday for the revamped version of the show. The new series will feature newcomers Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo, Josh Henderson, Brenda Strong, and Jesse Metcalfe along with original cast members Patrick Duffy, Charlene Tilton, Linda Gray, Steve Kanaly, and Ken Kercheval.

This isn’t the first time Hagman has faced a cancer diagnosis and the actor also underwent a liver transplants in the 90’s after being diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver.

Do you plan to tune in for the newly revamped version of Dallas? In the meantime good luck to Larry Hagman as he stages another battle against the disease.
