Prince William, Kate Middleton To Name Baby Diana, Royal Couple Hopes For A Daughter

Will Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, name their second child after William’s mother, the late Diana, Princess of Wales? The royal baby watch has turned into the royal baby name game, with lots of speculation about the baby’s name, despite the fact that it is still unknown if the couple is having a boy or a girl.

However, the Daily Mail reports that if Kate gives birth to a baby girl this spring, there’s a strong chance that she and William will honor the late Lady Diana by giving the baby her name. The latest rumor about the royal baby’s name comes from Andrew Morton, who wrote the biography, Diana: Her True Story.

Morton, who is considered an authority on all things royal, recently told The Sun that he is “convinced” that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge would name their daughter Elizabeth Diana Windsor. Unless, of course, Kate is pregnant with another boy.

“They discussed girls’ names before George was born and now they’re hoping the next one is a girl so they can carry out their wish to honour William’s mother. They’re not too thrilled at the thought it will be shortened to Princess Di.”

On September 8, Clarence House tweeted the announcement that Kate was pregnant with the couple’s second child. Since then, there has been endless chatter about the royal baby bump, the “is it a boy or girl?” guessing game, and the name the couple should pick for their new baby. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Kate Middleton is due towards the end of April, making it still a bit early to find out the sex of the baby.

Other rumors that have surfaced online include speculation that Kate, who is still suffering from extreme morning sickness, is carrying twin baby girls. Gossip Cop speculated that Kate and William’s son, Prince George, may end up getting two playmates at one time if the Duchess is indeed pregnant with twins. Of course, rumors about multiple babies sparked more speculation about names — the twins would supposedly be named Margaret and Elizabeth if the gossip is correct.

Author Andrew Morton is certain that the baby would be named Elizabeth Diana Windsor, so Gossip Cop’s speculation that the couple will use the name Elizabeth may turn out to be a fairly good guess. Now, if Morton could only give an accurate guess as to whether Kate is carrying one baby or two, it’s likely he would be the source of many bets centered around the royal baby.

Do you think it would be proper to honor Prince William’s late mother by using the name Diana if the royal couple’s second baby is a girl?
