New York Jet Geno Smith Curses At Fan Who Booed Him After Game

Apparently, New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith has little tolerance for hecklers. Smith was caught on camera responding to boos from a fan following Sunday’s game with anger and profanity, which he quickly apologized for after the incident took place.

Geno was understandably disappointed in his performance during the game, which saw the Jets lose to the Lions with the score totaling 24-17. Smith completed 17 of 33 passes for 209 yards and one touchdown. The player will likely be fined by the NFL for the incident.

There has been an intense amount of public objection to Smith being starting quarterback this season, and an overwhelming number of Jets fans are pushing for Michael Vick to replace him. Geno was met with particular pressure during today’s face off with Detroit, with many fans shouting “we want Vick”. The confrontation with the jeering fans occurred as Geno was heading towards the locker room after losing to the Lions. When the encounter was filmed by a local CBS sports affiliate, the 23-year-old QB apologized to press almost immediately.

“I want to apologize if any kid saw me saying any negative remarks walking off the field. I kind of let my temper get the best of me in that situation,” Smith said. “It’s part of my learning process. I have to get better with that. I have to let that stuff roll off my back, but today I didn’t do well with that.”

While many are hoping that Vick will replace Geno as starting quarterback, Michael himself is not so sure he’s comfortable lobbying for the position.

“I have mixed emotions about that. I’ve been through that,” the controversial player stated. “It’s so unfair. You can ruin quarterbacks that way.”

Geno seemed ready to put the incident behind him, and offered no reaction to fans’ preference to Vick. “The important thing is that I get my guys rallied up and get them ready to go next week because next week is the most important game for us,” Smith said.

Following the incident, Smith received support from his teammates, and coach Rex Ryan stood by his player and the decision not to remove him from the starting lineup. “I’m not going to replace him”, Ryan stated. “I feel good about Geno.”
