During an appearance on The Queen Latifah Show, Trip To Bountiful star Vanessa Williams revealed her engagement ring, and confirmed that she will indeed be marrying her boyfriend of almost two years, Jim Skrip. Williams stopped by Latifah's talk show to promote Bountiful, alongside co-stars Blair Underwood and Cecily Tyson, when the host pointed out that Vanessa might have something she should share with the audience.
"Vanessa, I have been trying to have a conversation with you ladies and gents, but I am blinded by the light coming from that bling ring on your finger," Queen Latifah joked.
Williams confirmed the news rather casually, and took a moment to address all of the excitement in her life. "Oh sorry darling. I got engaged. I have had a lot of good things happen", Vanessa said. "I turned 50 when we were in rehearsal on Broadway, I just got engaged a couple of weeks ago. It has been a lot of blessings on this trip."
Williams divulged a few details about her man earlier this year during an interview for Philly.com, saying mainly that he was "a guy I met a year and a half ago when I was on vacation with my daughter in Egypt." Vanessa has remained tightlipped and private when it comes to the relationship, but did mention in the same interview that Skrip was "in real estate and, back in the day, he was an accountant."
Vanessa's new husband-to-be will also be her third overall. The 51-year-old former Desperate Housewives star was previously married to her former manager Ramon Hervey for 10 years, a relationship that resulted in two children. Two years later, Williams married NBA star Rick Fox, with whom she also had two children.
The news of Vanessa Williams' engagement and the revitalization of her career comes not long after Williams, a former Miss America winner, spoke candidly on an episode of Oprah's Master Class about her difficult past and struggles with sexual abuse when she was just 10-years-old.
While there is no news yet on when or where Vanessa's nuptials will take place, the star is keeping busy with the new show and a recent stint with the Broadway musical After Midnight. Williams, a part time recording artist and accomplished singer, has released a number of albums over the years. Her most recent release is 2009's The Real Thing.
Vanessa is currently touring with her Bountiful co-stars. The Queen Latifah appearance will air Tuesday, September 30.
