War in the Gaza Strip, millions losing their jobs…and one of the big stories today is Barack Obama’s choice of puppy for his daughters.
George Stephanopoulos asked about the dog on ABC’s This Week, saying he was passing along the question from Obama’s daughters: “What kind of a dog are we getting and when are we getting it?”
Obama: “They seem to have narrowed it down to a Labradoodle or a Portuguese Water Hound … medium-sized dog, and so, we’re now going to start looking at shelters to see when one of those dogs might come up.”
Stephanopoulos: “So, you’re closing in on it?”
Obama: “We’re closing in on it. This has been tougher than finding a commerce secretary.”
A Labradoodle is a crossbred dog created by crossing a Labrador Retriever with a Standard or Miniature Poodle. First bred in Australia as a dog suited for people with allergies, the dog has become a popular worldwide. Notable owners include Jennifer Aniston, Jeremy Clarkson, Tiger Woods and Perez Hilton.
The Portuguese Water Hound (or Dog) is a Portuguese bread related to the Poodle that doesn’t shed hair.
