Elizabeth Taylor Jewelry Goes On World Tour Before Heading to Auction [Video]


If you don’t have the money to own a piece of Elizabeth Taylor jewelry, you can still get the chance to see it. Christie’s Auction House is bringing The Elizabeth Taylor Collection on a world tour before the rings, necklaces, and bracelets worn by the famous actress head to auction in December.

Elizabeth Taylor’s jewelry lands in Los Angeles today. From there the collection will travel to Dubai, Geneva, Paris, and Hong Kong before it lands in New York where it will be auctioned off over four days.

The Elizabeth Taylor auction will include jewelry, clothes, and memorabilia owned by the actress. The Elizabeth Taylor Diamond is just one big ticket item. The ring is expected to bring in $2,500,000-$3,0o0,000.

Marc Porter, Chairman and President of Christie’s Americas, said:

“Elizabeth Taylor’s magnificent collection of jewels promises to captivate the auction world this fall. This is without a doubt the greatest private collection of jewelry ever assembled in one place, and Christie’s is honored to have been entrusted with the global tour of the collection this fall, and the sale of the collection in its entirety this December.”

Here are a few other big ticket items from the Elizabeth Taylor jewelry auction.

  • A 16th Century Pearl Ruby and Diamond Necklace – Estimate: $2,000,000 – 3,000,000
  • An Antique Diamond Tiara, circa 1880 – Estimate: $60,000-80,000
  • An Emerald Diamond Necklace – Estimate: $1,000,000 – 1,500,000

Christie’s writes in a press release:

“The total selection of 269 magnificent jewels from this storied collection is estimated to achieve well in excess of $30 million.”

A portion of the proceeds from the auction will be going to The Elizabeth Taylor Aids Foundation.
