Minka Kelly and co-star Rachel Taylor have shared an intimate smooch for a new episode of the rebooted Charlie’s Angels. (Well, they have dropped a third of their audience in three weeks. After ratings drop again this week, don’t rule out seeing the cast pillow-fighting in their lingerie in week five.)
The kissing scene was shot on Miami Beach, and saw Kelly and Taylor snogging in their swimwear, before taking to the water on jetskis with third Angel, Annie Ilonzeh. Frankly, that kiss shot looks at least as awkward as the rest of the show.
Still, what this post does offer is the chance to reflect on some of the acidic reviews being dished out to this risible remake. Reviews such as those in The New York Daily News …
“St. Peter himself might not be able to save ABC’s new remake of Charlie’s Angels.”
… and The Hollywood Reporter:
“It’s beyond heinous. It contains some of the worst acting of the last decade on network television, much of it by Minka Kelly.”
The show is a rejig of the vastly superior 1976 series of the same name, with none of the charm. Kelly plays Angel and street racer Eve French in the show, while Rachael Taylor is thief Abby Sampson and Annie Ilonzeh stars as former cop Kate Prince.
Kelly is also the unwitting star of another tedious so-called drama, namely the are they/aren’t they story of her real-life relationship with Yankees star Derek Jeter, 37.
