Bigg Boss 8: Arya Babbar Hoping To Use Show For Bollywood Breakout

Bigg Boss 8 could be the big break for Arya Babbar.

The Bollywood actor has failed to live up to what many in the industry thought was his great potential, but now the appearance on the popular reality show could give him the opportunity he needs.

The 30-year-old Arya Babbar comes from quite a pedigree. His father is actor-turned-politician Raj Babbar and his mother is actress Nadira Babbar. Though he has had some success in the Punjabi film industry, the Bigg Boss 8 appearance could help him find more exposure in Bollywood.

Arya Babbar certainly isn’t lacking experience, noted NDTV:

“Having made his debut in the Hindi film industry in 2002, opposite actor Amrita Rao in a film titled Ab Ke Baras which didn’t do very well commercially, Arya subsequently worked in movies like Guru, Tees Maar Khan, Ready, Dangerous Ishhq and more recently Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola. All this apart from doing some extremely popular Punjabi movies, such as Yaar Annmulle and Heer and Hero.”

“He has also acted in a Bengali film called Paapi which released in 2012 and starred actors like Prosenjit and Pooja Bharti. In 2007, Arya Babbar had a major role in English language film Partition, set in Partition-era Punjab, co-starring British actor Jimi Mistry and Canadian actress Kristin Kreuk.”

Others have used Bigg Boss to gain exposure. Actress Veena Malik has deftly used the attention from the show to further her stature in the industry, as have many of the other dozens of celebrities to appear.

The popular reality show returned this week with a new cast of 12 celebrities, including Minissha Lamba, Upen Patel, Karishma Tanna, Natasa Stankovic, Praneet Bhat, Sonali Raut, Soni Singh, Sukirti Kandpal, Diandra Soares and Gautam Gulati.

But Arya Babbar himself is more focused on the challenges of Bigg Boss 8 than on furthering his entertainment career. Before entering the Bigg Boss house, he was asked what he would miss the most and responded: pizza and sex.
