Iraq PM Says He Has Uncovered A U.S.,France Subway ISIS Terror Plot

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-badi stated he received intelligence today that a terror plot was in the works to attack U.S. and French subways. CBS New York reports that the admission was made on the sidelines of world leaders gathering at United Nations General Assembly.

“he was told of the plot by Baghdad on Thursday, and that it was the work of foreign fighters of the Islamic State group in Iraq. Asked if the attack was imminent, he said, ‘Yes.’ Asked if the attack had been thwarted, he said, ‘No.’ Al-Abadi said the United States had been alerted. “

This all comes within days of confirmation of the 40 American ISIS fighters that returned to the U.S. from Iraq and Syria, and ISIS’s call for lone wolf attacks. The Inquisitr reported Tuesday that an unnamed ISIS leader put out an audio recording that called for beheadings of U.S., French, and “all their Western allies.

“Hinder those who want to harm your brothers. The best thing you can do is to strive to your best and kill any disbeliever, whether he be French, American or from any of their allies.”

Though, the remainder of the recording has been removed from YouTube for a “policy violation”, the alleged remainder of the translated text of the recording can be found online.

This all following U.S. airstrikes in Syria to further “degrade” and “destroy” ISIS, and the Iraq airstrikes prior.

According to Yahoo News, Iraq PM Al-badi confirmed that U.S. officials are aware of the threat. Those suspected are “extremists” from the U.S. and France who are fighting alongside ISIS in Iraq. The Iraq PM has said the ISIS terror plot warning came from Baghdad, and the PM was told it involved foreign fighters.

“Today, while I’m here I’m receiving accurate reports from Baghdad that there were arrests of a few elements and there were networks from inside Iraq to have attacks… on metros of Paris and U.S. They are not Iraqis. Some of them are French, some of them are Americans. But they are in Iraq.”

CBS New York reports the Congressman Peter King, member of the Homeland Security Commission, has been aware of the threat of ISIS planning terror plots overseas, but he was not made aware of an imminent threat.

“It could be speculation in Iraq, it could be conversations where they were talking about it as aspirational, but as far as it being in motion I don’t believe it is.”

At this time, the NYPD released a statement on the Iraqi PM terror alert, says CBS New York.

“We are aware of the Iraqi Prime Minister’s statements and we are in close contact with the FBI and other federal partners as we assess this particular threat stream. New York City normally operates at a heightened level of security and we adjust that posture daily based on our evaluation of information as we receive it.”

On Wednesday, New York and New Jersey came together to announce a substantial security increase at the following locations: bridges, tunnels, airports and mass transit hubs, in both states including Penn Station and Grand Central Station.

Both Governor Cuomo And Governor Christie have already been in the process of ramping up security, but has said it was not in response to this specific threat.

The top NYPD counterterrrorism official John Miller said they were aware of the Iraqi PM statement and are “in close contact with the FBI and other federal authorities”, as they assess the “threat stream”, Yahoo News reports.
