Charles Barkley Might Donate 2011-2012 Salary To Charity

Regardless of an NBA lockout Charles Barkley will still be paid his 2011-2012 salary by TNT and now the NBA analyst and former NBA star says he might donate his salary to charity in support of his basketball playing brethren.

Speaking with ESPN Radio Barkley revealed:

“I haven’t told anybody, but I’m actually — believe it or not — I’m leaning toward donating it to charity,” Barkley said on “The Waddle & Silvy Show” on ESPN 1000. “I don’t think it’s cool for me to take money I haven’t earned.

[…]

“The problem I have is if these guys hold out all season, it’s going to be a lot of money,” Barkley said.”That’s why I have to make that decision. I haven’t made the final decision.

“I don’t feel comfortable taking money for not working. I’ll either defer it or give it to charity.”

Even if Barkley just gives up part of his salary it would be a big departure from his “tell it like it is” attitude he portrays during the games he analyzes in which everyone, even his friends are placed in his crosshairs.

Since joining TNT in April 2000 Charles Barkley has helped make Inside the NBA one of the hottest properties in the league and for that he deserves his salary but if he wants to give it up to charity the more power to him.

I find it highly more likely that his salary will go to gambling and heavy drinks. Do you think Charles Barkley will end up donating his salary to charity?
