‘Avengers 2’ Plot Rumors: Joss Whedon Teases ‘Death,’ But Who Will Fall?

'Avengers 2' plot rumors point to death, but for whom?

Avengers 2 plot rumors are running wild now that the film is closing in on its theatrical release. After Joss Whedon blew us away with his big screen success, The Avengers, fans everywhere have been trying to piece together what he may be working on to top it.

For now, Joss Whedon only jokingly states that the film will involve “Death, death, and death.” There are plenty of spoilers below if you haven’t seen the films mentioned.

Some rumors include the possibility of the Marvel cinematic universe unleashing the “Civil War,” as previously reported by The Inquisitr, though a lot of changes would have to be made to facilitate it.

Spider-Man played a major role in the massive comic book collaboration, unmasking for the world to see after Tony Stark convinced him it was the right thing to do. However, Sony clearly owns the rights to Spider-Man, and has plans for him covering several years, and Marvel Studios can’t touch him directly.

Although the Marvel “Civil War” might not happen, a major event could still take place. As rumored by a broken shield and the possibility of Chris Evans retiring from the franchise, Captain America may be set to die. While this may not be the end of the character, with the Winter Soldier possibly taking his place, it seems to be one of the most rampant Avengers 2 plot rumors.

With the character rumored to be expanding the team at the end of the film, however, Cap might not be dying just yet.

Another possibility is that Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.), the civilian in the Iron Man suit, will die. This would be ironic after finally getting the chest piece and shrapnel removed at the end of Iron Man 3. However, it isn’t that unlikely since it was revealed that the Hulkbuster armor would make its debut in Age of Ultron. Mark Ruffalo is signed on for at six more movies, so the Hulk is highly unlikely to get the proverbial ax. This means Tony Stark might lose his fight with Hulk despite the suit.

Thor is an unlikely target of the latest Avengers 2 plot rumors, with Thor 3 being planned further on in the series. Killing off a character who will likely play a pivotal role later in the overall story doesn’t make sense.

Other possibilities for death in the Avengers 2 plot rumors include Black Widow, Nick Fury, and Hawkeye.

Nick Fury already faked his death in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, so it’s doubtful that the next movie will just make it permanent.

Hawkeye actor Jeremy Renner has stated that he has no interest in a solo film, but that doesn’t mean much about whether he will die.

As new as they are to the team, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch aren’t likely to get killed off in their first major appearance.

Who do you think will fall victim to the grave in the latest wave of Avengers 2 plot rumors?
