Justin Timberlake’s ‘Punk’d’ Gets Out Of Control

Justin Timberlake was Punk’d in the worst kind of way a few years back, and now it is coming back to haunt him. Timberlake thought the government had seized his home and all his belongings, including his dogs, due to unpaid taxes. You’ve heard the saying, “don’t kill the messenger?” Dax Shepard was the messenger, and Justin was far from happy with him, according to Entertainment Tonight.

This particular episode of Punk’d was one of the most popular because of the extent of the actual prank, not to mention the fact that Timberlake was brought to the point of tears. And it was all on camera. But what has come out recently — the story behind the prank — is what is even more interesting. Uproxx reports that once the cameras were off, Timberlake explains his behavior, stating he was stoned and paranoid.

It’s too bad Punk’d host, Ashton Kutcher, didn’t know Timberlake’s state of mind prior to filming. Or is it? It all makes for interesting reality TV.

What viewers didn’t realize is that Dax Shepard, the actor Ashton hired to pull of various pranks, was known to be a hothead and was prone to getting into fights. Ashton warned him and told him he had to keep his temper in check for this job. Shepard recalls a conversation he had with Ashton as reported on Entertainment Tonight and specifically one request Ashton insisted upon.

“You know, you can’t — if someone gets physical with you — you’re just going to have to take it!”

That was asking a lot of Dax, but put Shepard’s short fuse alongside Justin’s state of mind, and an explosion is ready to blow at any given moment.

Justin admits he was completely out of it at the time all this was going down, according to Entertainment Tonight.

“I was so stoned. If you ask my friends, if they’re honest they would probably say that’s the only way to get me as dizzy as I was. What you didn’t see from the episode, because it was a 45-minute affair cut down to 10 minutes, was me showing up and being like, ‘What the f*** are you people doing on my property? Get the f*** off my property! Get the f*** out of here!’ Then they started rattling off my parents’ address, and I was like, ‘hold on a second.’ I mean, everybody was got good on that show — me probably the best.”

Once Ashton popped onto the scene, and Timberlake realized he was Punk’d in the worst kind of way, everyone laughed, Timberlake dried his tears and the show ended. But once the cameras were off, Uproxx reports that Timberlake kept telling Shepard he was about to punch him out.

“Dude, I was for real man, I was about to f***ing punch you out!”

After hearing Timberlake say this over and over, Shepard’s blood was boiling and he was ready to take Justin for a round or two. That is until Ashton stepped in and in his comedic way, he was able to defuse the pending blow-out by simply asking Timberlake, “‘When were you going to punch him? Before or after you were crying?”

Dax was so thankful for Ashton stepping in and making that light-hearted comment.

Justin admitted that he actually stopped smoking pot for nine to ten months after he was Punk’d. Wow, way to set an example, Timberlake. Good to know.
