Weezer Bassist Mikey Welsh Predicted His Own Death

Mikey Welsh, Weezer’s former bass player, was found dead on Sunday in Chicago. Initial reports said that Welsh likely died of an overdose, but mysterious tweets sent weeks before his death could point toward suicide.

Welsh predicted his death on September 26th. Welsh wrote on Twitter:

“Dreamt i died in chicago next weekend (heart attack in my sleep). need to write my will today.”

He followed that with another tweet, saying:

“Correction — the weekend after next.”

Welsh was reportedly in Chicago to watch his former band play a show. US Magazine reports that the bassist was found dead in his hotel room after he failed to checkout on time.

After his death, Weezer posted a note to Welsh’s Twitter page:

“We are deeply saddened to announce that Mikey Welsh passed away unexpectedly today. He will forever be remembered as an amazing father, artist, and friend. May he rest in peace.”

Weezer’s current bassist Scott Shriner tweeted:

“Really bummed about Mikey. My heart goes out to his family and friends. Such a talent… he made a special mark on the world with his art.”

The Chicago Tribune reports that Welsh was found with heroine and a bag of prescription drugs, leading police to believe that Welsh overdosed. But was it accidental?

Do you think Mikey Welsh was calling out for help when he predicted his own death? Did he have his suicide planned out? Or did Welsh really have a dream about his own death?
