‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ Wants You To Design A Costume

American Horror Story fans are getting a chance to get in on the hype for Freak Show. FX is sponsoring an American Horror Story: Freak Show costume design contest to celebrate the launch of the 4th season of the show.

The competition is looking for unusual, original, and freaky costumes inspired by the series, reports Digital Journal. Fans are encouraged to submit their “American Horror Story” design sketches, along with a description of the design’s inspiration, at the AHS Design Contest website.

“Are you a fashion freak? Show us the darkest corners of your creativity and submit your AHS inspired costume design to our panel of judges,” the webpage reads.

The costume designs will be judged by the show’s head costume designer Lou Eyrich, “Project Runway” alum Christian Siriano, and FX President of Marketing and On-air Promotions, Stephanie Gibbons.

The contest is open now, and design entries will be accepted until the season premier on October 8. The winner will be announced shortly after that.

The winning designer will receive $5000. Their design will be made into a costume and featured in a special “American Horror Story” inspired photo-shoot. The costume will also be featured on the show’s website and in its social media posts.

A runner-up in the contest will receive $1500 and social media recognition.

According to Lost Remote, FX is also sponsoring a sweepstakes offering fans a chance to watch the premier of American Horror Story: Freak Show in LA.

American Horror Story: Freak Show is one of the most anticipated shows of the fall 2014 television season – FX even has a countdown clock to the show’s premier on Tumblr. The show’s fans are abuzz on social media with hashtags such as #AHSFreakshow and #AmericanHorrorStoryFreakShow already appearing on Twitter, and pictures and trailers for the show filling the feed.

The 4th season of the anthology is set in 1952 and follows a troupe of carnival performers that arrives in Jupiter, Florida at the same time as a dark entity that threatens both the townsfolk and carnival freaks.

Freak Show is expected to be the scariest season of American Horror Story so far – so scary, in fact, that The Inquisitr reports the show’s creator is “worried people are going to have cardiac arrests” when they see the antics of the terrifying clown created for the series.

AHS veterans Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Francis Conroy, Evan Peters Emma Roberts, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, and Gabourey Sidibe are returning, while Wes Bentley, John Carroll Lynch, Finn Wittrock, Jyoti Amge, Patti LaBelle, and Matt Bomer will join the American Horror Story: Freak Show cast for the first time this year.
