Company Fails Attempt To Trademark “Casey Anthony” Name

Only days after Casey Anthony was handed down a “not guilty” verdict the company Grant Media filed a U.S. Trademark application on July 10 to “own” the name Casey Anthony and now we’ve learned that the trademark request has been denied.

The company hoped to use the name for entertainment purposes however the U.S. Trademark office rejected the request because the company could not show any connection with Casey Anthony.

In their decision the trademark office writes:

“[Anthony] is not connected with the services sold by the applicant under the mark. Moreover, due to her fame, purchasers would presume a connection between Casey Anthony and the entertainment services.”

According to Anthony’s lawyers they are ready to pounce on any person or company who attempt to use the Casey Anthony name to turn a profit.

Grant Media at this time are not responded to the rejection of their trademark request.

In all honestly I don’t feel like anyone should profit from the Casey Anthony name, especially not Anthony herself.
