Téa Leoni, David Duchovny Divorce: ‘Madam Secretary’ Star Opens Up About Split


News of the Téa Leoni and David Duchovny divorce shocked quite a few fans, as the famous couple managed to get it done under the radar. Though Téa and David had gone through some rough times over the years, confirmation that the divorce was done and over was a bit stunning to some this past summer. Now, Leoni is starring in the new show Madam Secretary, and she’s opening up a bit about her divorce.

Leoni talked with Parade about her new show and her split from Duchovny. The new show premieres on CBS on September 21, and many fans will be anxious to check out Téa in this new role. As for the Téa Leoni and David Duchovny divorce, the actress says that the relationship between them remains amicable. In fact, apparently Téa still has the wedding-band tattoo that she got a few years ago to match the one David had.

Téa and David have two children together, 15-year-old Madelaine West and 12-year-old Kyd Miller. Leoni says that Duchovny gave her the two greatest gifts on the planet, and she couldn’t ever hate him. She adds that while they have gone through their tough moments, they do love one another and of course they both adore the kids. She adds that they both feel that their kids are too important to not maintain a good relationship with one another.

The family is based in New York, though Duchovny has been working on a Charles Manson series in Los Angeles for the past few months. The kids spent much of the summer with him, and she visited some. As E! Online notes, the kids have grandparents in the New York area, and Leoni has said they all want the kids to know their grandparents well.

Téa Leoni and David Duchovny divorced after 17 years of marriage. They wed in 1997 but did experience two separations before the final split. There was a brief separation in 2008 and another one in 2011. While the separations were well-known among fans, the actual divorce itself managed to go unnoticed for about two months.

Will Leoni’s Madam Secretary be a big hit for CBS this fall? There is quite a bit of buzz about it already, so it sounds as if it is definitely one to watch. As for the Téa Leoni and David Duchovny divorce, it seems that these two are handling things in a very mature way, unlike many celebrity couples typically do.
