‘Once Upon A Time’ Spoilers: Emma Might Not Love Hook, ‘Frozen’ Story Arc Details

Once Upon a Time fans who ship Captain Swan want to see Hook get his ship back so that he can whisk “Princess Leia” away on a romantic trip to some exotic island that only exists in one of ABC show’s fairy tale worlds. However, Captain Swan fans might feel just as brokenhearted as Killian by the time Season 4 comes to a close.

Hook is obviously hooked on Emma Swan, but it sounds like she wasn’t feeling true love whenever she kissed the debonair corsair — the pretty pirate’s luscious lips lack that magic feeling Emma needs to experience before destroying all the walls that she’s spent so long building up. Once Upon a Time showrunner Edward Kitsis talked about the Captain Swan kisses during a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

“Emma has had a lifetime of putting up walls, so one kiss does not mean love and [let’s] go register at Pottery Barn. As for Hook, we’re going to see some old rivalries. We can’t forget that as much as he loves Emma and has done the right thing for her, we’ve seen him do horrible things in the past because he’s a pirate. He and Rumplestiltskin unfortunately are going to find their detente coming to an end.”

It sounds like Kitsis is hinting that Hook might not be Emma’s true love. If only Tinker Bell would weigh in and let Once Upon a Time fans know who Miss Swan is really meant to be with.

Kitsis’ comment about Rumplestiltskin and Hook’s hostile feelings toward each other also seems a bit foreboding. Will Mr. Gold let Killian off the hook for running off with his wife, or will blood have to be spilled in order for their longstanding feud to finally come to an end?

Captain Swan fans won’t find Adam Kitsis’ comments about Hook and Emma quite as distressing. During an interview with TV Guide, he hinted that Emma and Killian just need a little drama in their lives to keep things interesting.

“You want to see Emma and Hook rent a movie and stay home? ‘Oh, look, they’re making popcorn and Hook needs help because he only has one hand! Isn’t that adorable!’ Where’s the drama in that? We will definitely explore the feelings Emma and Hook have for each other and the reality of these two people trying to get together…while running from a snow monster.”

It looks like Marshmallow might ruin a Captain Swan date.

Emma Swan isn’t the only Storybrooke resident who will experience relationship troubles during Season 4 of Once Upon a Time. Regina’s heart was broken when Emma brought Robin Hood’s wife back from the dead, and now the Evil Queen has to decide out how to respond to Maid Marian’s presence. Once Upon a Time fans will find out which road Regina will take during the first episode of Season 4.

“The old Regina would immediately rip everyone’s heart out. Will this Regina revert to heart wrecking, or will she evolve? And we’re going to find that out quickly in the premiere.”

The arrival of Disney’s Frozen character Elsa will give Regina a second rival to deal with, and the Evil Queen might see the Snow Queen as a welcome distraction. Henry will also help his mom keep her mind off of her messy love life.

“Regina is also going to be launched on a new quest with Henry this year. We’ve seen Henry in Operation Cobra with Emma, but we’re going to see a new one with Regina that we’re very excited about. And this is actually one that will transcend, although the first 11 will be Frozen, this is an arc that will go the whole season.”

Perhaps this quest will involve Regina’s old pal Maleficent (Kristin Bauer van Straten) and the arrival of Once Upon a Time in Wonderland character Will Scarlet (Will Socha). The Knave of Hearts has a connection to Regina’s true love (he was one of Robin Hood’s Merry Men), and he once robbed Maleficent. Many Wonderland fans thought the Knave was the best thing about the failed spin-off, so hopefully he gets plenty of screen time during the second half of the season.

As far as the Frozen characters are concerned, Captain Swan fans don’t have to worry about Hook chasing after another pretty blonde if he gets spurned by Emma; Kitsis said that Elsa will not have a love interest on Once Upon a Time. Disney probably appreciates this plot point because it gives the House of Mouse the option of telling an Elsa love story in a Frozen sequel.

Anna actress Elizabeth Lail talked to TV Guide about the big mystery that the Frozen arc will present on Once Upon a Time. Viewers will get to see Anna and Kristoff planning their wedding. However, the lovebirds might not make it down the aisle on the show — information about the death of Elsa and Anna’s parents will disrupt the wedding plans and lead the Frozen sisters on an adventure that could end in disaster.

“Anna is led to believe her parents went on that voyage in search of something that could help control Elsa’s powers, but she’s just not sold on it. She’s determined to find out the truth about their mission. She dearly loves Kristoff but knows she can marry him next month or next year. What matters is her sister.”

Anna will end up in the Enchanted Forest, and she’ll run into Rumpelstiltskin during her quest. Their meeting could have something to do with how Elsa ended up inside the urn in Rumple’s vault.

What are you looking forward to more when Once Upon a Time returns on September 28: more Captain Swan or the arrival of Elsa and Anna?
