The 19th ranked Wisconsin will look to roll up the score on Bowling Green as the 1-1 Badgers seek to put more distance between themselves and an opening week loss to SEC powerhouse LSU. Wisconsin is coming off a bye week and comes into today’s game well rested. Look for running back Melvin Gordon to seek to put up gaudy numbers after being out rushed by Wisconsin quarterback Tanner McEvoy in the Badgers last game.

According to a Yahoo Sports report, Melvin Gordon has this to say about what he considered a poor personal performance in last week’s victory over Western Illinois.

“It’s tough when everyone across the country is expecting you to break a long one probably every game, and if you don’t, it’s like ‘Maybe, he’s not what we thought he was,’ but you’ve got to ignore it the best you can, try to move forward and put your best foot forward in the next game.”

It’s tempting to overlook Bowling Green as a second tier team and an easy victory for the Badgers, but don’t count on the Falcons to go down easy. They’ve already beaten a Big Ten team once this season. Of course, the Big Ten team they beat is perennial basement dweller Indiana, but we can still expect Bowling Green to come out hungry for seconds. Last Saturday, Bowling Green put up gaudy numbers in their 45-42 victory, amassing 571 yards of total offense, 395 of it in the air. Sophomore quarterback James Knapke three 46 completions (a school record) and three touchdowns in that game. Look for the Falcons to take to the air in today’s game as well. The Bowling Green Falcons — who are expected by many to win the MAC — face a Badger passing defense that hasn’t exactly been stellar, allowing over 8 yards per attempt and 15 yards per completion so far this year.

Bowling Green and Wisconsin have played three times in the history of the schools’ programs. The Badgers have walked away victorious one ash of those matches, the most recent in 2006.
