Kendall Jenner Breaking Away From All Things Kardashian – Bans Sister Kim From Shows

For Kendall Jenner, being considered a Kardashian isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. In fact, Kendall sees it as more a liability than anything else. In a recent interview with LOVE magazine, the 18-year-old model bluntly admitted that her association and role on Keeping Up with the Kardashians household has actually hampered her high fashion modeling career. As she said in the interview,

“I was like, ‘You know what? I want to be high fashion.’ I want to be taken seriously … People think that this [success] just came to me. But it didn’t. What I have has almost worked against me. I had to work even harder to get where I wanted because people didn’t take me seriously as a model. Because of the TV show.”

And so Kendall Jenner has decided to be known as simply Kendall, with the hopes that eliminating her easily-recognizable name will help her succeed in the world of high fashion.

As Kendall explains, “I went on castings and some people weren’t feeling me because of my name. But it was great when people didn’t recognize me. I was like, ‘Thank you. Please don’t recognize me.'”

And dropping the name Jenner has, so far, proved to be a smart move on Kendall’s part. Since going by just “Kendall,” the model has been asked to walk on more runways than before, and on Monday, Kendall was spotted leaving LAX for another modeling job, after just returning from another modeling job just a few days earlier. Kendall really is making a name for herself in the fashion world – Glamour magazine recently referred to her as a new style icon.

And Kendall is taking it a step further than just dropping the name Jenner – she has asked that big sister Kim stay away from her fashion shows, as well.

As Kendall said in a recent interview, “Kim was invited to a lot of the shows that I was in. She called me before and was like, ‘Hey, I was invited to the show, I just wanted to let you know. Do you want me to come?'”

Kendall’s response to sister Kim’s question?

“No.”

And it seems as though Kim is actually respecting little sister Kendall’s wish – she has gone to very few fashion shows during Fashion Month this year. This has allowed Kendall to enjoy the spotlight for herself for once, and to be recognized as a talented and beautiful high fashion model rather than being known as the little sister of Kim Kardashian.

What do you think? Is Kendall better off not being associated with her sisters?
