Jennifer Lopez’s Ex Cris Judd Didn’t Feel Normal Married To Entertainer

Jennifer Lopez’s ex husband, Cris Judd, rarely pops into the limelight, so you may think we’re going into a time machine to 2001, but we promise we aren’t. Judd recently spoke to Us Weekly about his marriage to singer-actress Jennifer Lopez, and how bizarre the media made him feel.

Back then, Judd, now 45-years-old, was Lopez’s backup dancer who became a popular face on tabloids throughout his whirlwind romance with Lopez. He reflected about that weird time at the 2014 Industry Dance Awards in Hollywood and his life now.

The two started dating and got engaged in 2001. The pair were married merely a month after their engagement, and by the time 2003 rolled around, they had parted ways. For Judd, he didn’t feel like a normal person being thrust out into the spotlight.

“You know it’s very tough. Your privacy is breached. You’re no longer a normal person. [Our wedding] was a circus. I think several people got arrested trying to climb up a mountain… trying to sneak in. We actually rented the airspace.”

Being married to a famous spouse isn’t easy, but Judd doesn’t seem to be too unforgiving of the experience. Cris is levelheaded even though he admitted that at the time the invasion of privacy was difficult.

“You kind of sign up for that, you know? You kind of have to take it and accept it and embrace it. Once you stop fighting it, it smoothes itself over. If you try to keep that privacy, it drives you nuts and that’s why people break.”

After Jennifer Lopez and Cris Judd called it quits, she quickly moved on to Ben Affleck… until they split in 2004. That said, Judd doesn’t have any hard feelings for Lopez.

“She looks fantastic, that goes without a doubt. Anybody that would say she doesn’t look great is lying. But you know, I can’t give you the answer as to why her relationships don’t work… Everyone has baggage and problems. It’s whether you want to deal with those problems. When you sign up to get married, you can’t just walk away.”

Fortunately for Cris, he found love with his wife, Kelly A. Wolfe, and has been married since 2009. The pair share an 11-month-old daughter, Vivienne.

As for Lopez, she has twins, Emme and Max, with ex-husband Marc Anthony, who she started dating shortly after her engagement with Ben Affleck ended.

Recently, the singer spoke about her famous exes on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live! When host Andy Cohen asked about her dancer exes, Lopez spoke kindly of both Cris and Casper Smart.

“I’ve dated two dancers. One, I had a brief marriage with Cris Judd, who is an amazing person and who I love, and then Beau. We just broke up, but who I love as well, and is a good friend.”
