Spider-Man Soldier Surprises Son: Guess Who This Little Guy Loves More

The Spider-Man soldier video may have found its way to your social media feed this week in spite of the fact that it’s actually a year old. However, heartwarming family reunions, particularly those involving our men and women in uniform, never get old.

In this 50-second clip, the little boy — unnamed with little known about where this was taken — goes outside to play and is promptly met by a familiar figure crouching atop the backyard fence.

Yep, it’s Spider-Man!

Our small friend lights up with the idea that his favorite superhero has dropped by to pay him a visit, and so he proceeds with controlled excitement.

Spidey jumps down from the fence at this point and advances toward the boy, crouching down to his level and receiving a welcome hug as a result.

After accepting the hug, he holds up one hand for a high-five while trying to pull off the mask. When it finally does come off, we get to see in no uncertain terms who this little guy loves more.

What makes this Spider-Man soldier video so cool is how the little guy completely forgets that Spider-Man exists once he sees the man behind the mask.

Measuring these two reactions from the little boy, there is no comparison. It’s Daddy all the way.

While we wish we knew more about the family situation, the reaction the little boy gives is so genuine there isn’t any reason to question its validity. Kids are so honest about their emotions, and as a parent myself, I know it had to feel good getting that second hug.

Surprisingly, even the folks at YouTube who’ve clicked and commented on the video had nothing but positive things to say.

Usually even the sweetest of vids — which this clearly is — get a few Dislikes. Not here, though we’re sure it’ll change the more that people see it.

“This is so amazing,” said one commenter. “This dad comes home from his deployment as spider-man for his son. I know this meant the world to that little boy.”

“What a wonderful father!… a great soldier too!” said another.

“I NEVER come close to getting teary eyed over this stuff but that was the nicest most adorable thing I’ve ever seen,” added one more. “I have the most respect humanly possible for that father.”
