When it comes to situations in the Middle East, most of the world primarily knows about terrorist activities. Here on The Inquisitr, we reported numerous times on issues surrounding the Middle East Crisis, specifically ISIS and the Hamas. Recent news for ISIS includes that the United States is now at war, though this depends greatly on which member of the Obama Administration you ask. As for recent news regarding the Hamas, they are rebuilding their tunnels and resupplying their war stock in preparation for another battle, specifically with Israel.
What about the other atrocities happening in the Middle East? We’ve previously reported on the fact that Saudi Arabia actually leads the way in numbers when it comes to beheadings. Now there are reports coming of another travesty. According to reports from Pakistan, over 90 percent of the 1.5 million homeless children have been raped.
Before we continue, we should note that Pakistan is considered to be a part of South Asia, but it is also considered to be part of the Great Middle East as well.
According to an article by the Toronto Sun, rape in Pakistan is so common that it is barely taboo. For example, a bus driver in Peshawar says that after his shift is over, he likes to head to the slums to rape street kids. Sometimes he will pay them a dollar, but most of the time he doesn’t. Instead, he just joins the violent gang rapes. He even tells a story of a boy that was raped on his bus.
“Once, there was a boy on the bus and everyone had sex with him. I did it too but what else could I do? They invited me. And he was that kind of boy anyways.”
He even admitted to raping 12 different children, which should get others up in arms. Here in the United States, we as a nation wouldn’t allow this. Even prisoners have their form of justice if they find out someone is serving a sentence because of raping children. But these men in Pakistan rape without worry about being caught.
Just to show you how prevalent this issue is in Pakistan, Jews News reports that a recent poll of 1,800 Pakistani men showed a third don’t think raping street kids is a crime — and they don’t even think it is a transgression. What’s worse, there are so-called honor killings in the country too. If a man’s daughter has been raped, he would kill her for social improprieties, either real or perceived. Because of this, about 1,000 Pakistani girls are murdered by their fathers every year. This horrific duality is a hypocritical double-standard. Men find it okay to rape boys and girls, yet when their daughters are raped, they are embarrassed? Seriously?
Now that you read about this, we want to know your opinions. Do you consider this travesty in our culture to just be a norm in their culture? Should it remain or should there be change? Please let us know in the comments below.
