Are You In A Top Coffee Drinking Profession?

Pressat, a public relations company, just released their list of the top 10 professions that drink the most coffee. Pressat’s coffee drinkers list was created after surveying over 10,000 professionals. Of all the professionals, 85 percent of professionals revealed that they drink at least three cups of coffee each day! Pressat’s report asked, “Could it be that being overstretched or working late pushed the workforce to consume more caffeine?”

According to Pressat’s research, highly stressful professions produced coffee drinkers that consumed more joe than other professions, Retail jobs and job involving professional driving were at the bottom of the list. Over two thirds of the professionals surveyed said that their ability to perform their jobs would suffer if they had to work without drinking any coffee that day. Are you in a coffee guzzling profession?

On order of coffee consumption, the top 10 professions that involved the most coffee drinking are:

“Recent research carried out by the University of South Carolina has found that the daily recommended dose should not exceed 200mg of caffeine per day, which is equivalent to two mugs or four cups of coffee,” the Pressat report explained. “Consuming copious amounts of coffee just to get through the stresses and strains of a working day can cause increased risk to your health, from strokes to anxiety, and right through to heart problems, although the survey found that 62 per cent of workers were not aware of the health risks.”

In 2011, Dunkin’ Donuts and CareerBuilder created a similar survey of 4,700 American workers. The results of that survey concluded, “some professionals need coffee more than others,” according to io9.

Speaking of Dunkin’ Donuts, Inquisitr recently reported on the a lighthearted phenomenon in Los Angeles that coffee fans might be interested in.

Coffee consumer Charlier, who is in the insurance industry and is the Face of The Globe North East 2014, told Pressat, “I have at least twenty cups a day and three of those are before I leave the house for work!”

Twenty cups is nothing compared to Voltaire who supposedly drank between 50 and 72 cups of coffee a day, according to The Washington Monthly. Voltaire was a writer during the French Enlightenment, which makes coffee consumption and the writing profession an addictive pairing that is many centuries old.
