New ‘Avengers 2 Age of Ultron’ Cast, Characters Revealed, Including Possible Iron Man Replacement

If you’ve been craving more details on Avengers 2: Age of Ultron, here’s some new tidbits for you to salivate over… and it’s got the crunchy goodness of villains!

It’s been confirmed that James Spader will have the honor of portraying the malevolent mechanism Ultron, scourge of the Avengers. Spader, as displayed most recently in his hit TV show The Blacklist, can definitely deliver the bad guy goods.

Meanwhile, German actor Thomas Kretschmann (who we’ve seen in films like The Pianist and King Kong) will play Baron Wolfgang von Strucker. The present-day head of Hydra was last spotted in the end-credits Easter egg of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, in which he has Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch (both of whom will appear in Avengers 2) in his foul clutches.

Fanatics of all things Marvel have been blessed with some exciting news lately. As recently revealed by The Inquisitr, there is high confidence that an Avengers-Guardians of the Galaxy mash-up is coming, thanks to reports that gleaned tantalizing information from Dave “Drax” Bautista’s contract.

You gotta love it: Avengers 2 doesn’t drop until May next year, and we’re already getting blitzed by Avengers 3 speculation. It’s a great time to be a superhero junkie!

Speaking of speculation, there are rumors that the super-powered ruler of a certain fictional African nation will take the place of Tony Stark as leader of the Avengers. According to a report by MoviePilot, Black Panther is a strong candidate to take over the job from Iron Man.

Heck, he may be the guy who takes down the threat of rampaging robot Ultron, thanks to the ultra-rare metal vibranium found in his country, Wakanda. As you may remember from the first Captain America movie, Cap’s shield is made of vibranium.

Speaking of Iron Man, there’s some recent scuttlebutt from Robert Downey, Jr. regarding the metal-clad Avenger: Don’t hold your breath for an Iron Man 4 anytime soon. Or maybe ever. At the moment, no one can say for sure if he’s bluffing or not.

In more encouraging news, Downey has given his personal thumbs up to solo films for Hawkeye, Black Widow, and the Hulk (maybe Mark Ruffalo can help Marvel finally get Big Green right). He said the powers-that-be behind the films are feeling pretty confident in light of how the last few Marvel flicks have performed, and that may make them more amenable to giving more Avengers a shot at their own franchises.

Come on, admit it: The wait for Avengers 2: Age of Ultron is killing you, isn’t it?
