Arnold Schwarzenegger Did What To A Painting Of Maria Shriver?

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver have been on the outs for a long time. At one point, Schwarzenegger was trying to win Shriver back after reports came out that he fathered a child with a member of his household staff and had an affair that lasted for over a decade. The affair became public and was a difficult time for the family. The couple eventually announced their separation in 2011.

Now Arnold seems to be pretty much done with winning Maria Shriver’s love back, and he took a drastic measure to express that just recently. According to the New York Post, the former Governor of California had his estranged wife’s face painted over in a portrait.

The unveiling took place on Monday at the Sacramento statehouse. According to Page Six, “California Capitol insiders were shocked to see that a small picture of the former first lady that had been part of the ex-governor’s 6-foot-high oil painting was no longer visible.”

This is a portrait that he posed for back in 2003, and originally had Maria’s face printed on a pin he was wearing on his suit. Now that he no longer is with Shriver, he decided to unveil an altered version of that portrait, and epically failed at doing so. The touch up is not only obvious, but pretty embarrassing, featuring a splotched blob and a discoloration of Schwarzenegger’s suit where Maria’s face had been.

Tour guide Richard Granis said of the painting, “Whoever touched it up did not do a very good job. It was softball sized, right there on his left lapel.”

Here’s another look at the portrait.

Back when the couple announced their split, they released a statement to People magazinethat stated, “This has been a time of great personal and professional transition for each of us. After a great deal of thought, reflection, discussion, and prayer, we came to this decision together.

“At this time, we are living apart, while we work on the future of our relationship. We are continuing to parent our four children together. They are the light and the center of both of our lives.”

As for Maria Shriver, according to the Daily Mail, she has moved on with a former George Bush adviser Matthew Dowd. The two were pictured at her cousin Bobby Jr’s wedding to Cheryl Hines. The pair have been seeing each other for a year, and so far Dowd has been at the Kennedy Compound in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts.
