Ever since fast service with a smile was first offered to the United States population, there has been a war between competitors in the industry. For the longest time, McDonald’s has been the fast food restaurant on top with their boast of serving billions. However, there have been others who tried to go to war with them on certain products. Here on The Inquisitr, we reported on such turf battles, especially when Taco Bell introduced breakfast options. McDonald’s retaliated by offering free coffee during the week of Taco Bell’s breakfast menu being available to the public. As a matter of fact, this war is still going on.
However, McDonald’s is no longer the super giant when it comes to clean-sweeping categories pertaining to the fast food industry. There are now reports that Chick-fil-A is the new number one in appeal to children, which is something McDonald’s is known for. Ronald McDonald is not pleased.
McDonald’s is losing the crowd who want Happy Meals. According to a very detailed report by Chicago Business, children are now wanting Chick-fil-A because it is one of the chains that serve “real” food. Chipotle is another. Apparently, it should be reported that the kid appeal is actually a trickle-down effect from millennials who want healthier and fresher options. These millennials are the ones who have or are having children, and they are no longer willing to feed their kids “junk food.” If millennials are calling McDonald’s food “trash,” then what makes one think they’ll feed said “trash” to their children?
Now The End Begins also reported on Chick-fil-A taking the number one spot with children and state it has a lot to do with the faith of the owners. Before Truett Cathy passed away, he had two simple premises. First, make the best chicken sandwich with fresh ingredients (which millennials love). Second, be closed on Sunday and honored God. The first point was no reason to be attacked by most people, but the story is different for the second point. The article however states that it looks as if Truett had it right all along, despite the criticism. Besides being number one among children, we reported that Chick-fil-A is also the number one fast food chicken restaurant in the business, surpassing Popeye’s and KFC.
