Ryan Phillippe Shares Private Moment For Daughter Ava’s Birthday
Ryan Phillippe had a sentimental moment on the day of his oldest child’s fifteenth birthday. His daughter Ava, who he had with actress and now ex-wife Reese Witherspoon had a monumental birthday. Due to this, Phillippe decided to share a private moment that happened 15 years ago on the day Ava was born.
Sharing the story in a few tweets, Phillippe retold the moments that lead up to Ava’s birth. In the tweet he wrote, “15 yrs ago today, was my last [day] on, The Way of the Gun. A helicopter waited off set to transport me from the ‘Mexican brothel’ in Utah to Cedars Sinai in Beverly Hills.”
Phillippe continued, “With my stomach in knots, exhausted & dirty, covered in syrupy fake blood & shards of candy glass the heli[copter] found the pad and I was taken to an area to sterilize myself. I made it to my then wife’s bedside w/ two hours to spare before.”
“My baby girl first entered the world. 15 years ago I learned what love truly is.”
Isn’t that sweet? Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe initially met at her 21st birthday party and were inseparable from then on. They starred in 1999’s Cruel Intentions together. The pair were married and became new parents all in the same year. In addition to their daughter, the pair also has a son together named Deacon Reese Phillippe.

Deacon was named after Ryan’s distant relative who played in the MLB for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Deacon is now 10-years-old.
Unfortunately, the couple split in 2006 after it was revealed that Phillippe had cheated on Reese with his Stop-Loss co-star Abbie Cornish. It was a very painful break up and took Phillippe years to get over the public scrutiny. Back in 2010, Ryan told this to Howard Stern on this radio show while discussing his split from Cornish.
“I have a new rule: not to date anyone who has a publicist. Who announces a breakup? I don’t understand that! There’s no need for that. I’ve been dumped on in the press for relationship stuff since Reese [Witherspoon] and I divorced.”
By 2008, Ryan and Reese officially divorced, but both have moved on. As stated Ryan’s relationship with Abbie Cornish didn’t last and he had another child from a fling, this time with actress Alexis Knapp. Witherspoon dated Jake Gyllenhaal before marrying CAA agent Jim Toth. The two had a son Tennessee in September of 2012.
