Brad Pitt shines in new World War II film, Fury, directed and written by David Ayer. Pitt plays the role of Don “Wardaddy” Collier, the commander of a five-man Sherman tank crew. The film is set during the last month of World War II in April 1945. As the Allies make their final push in the European Theater, a battle-hardened U.S. Army Sergeant in the 2nd Armored Division named Wardaddy, Brad Pitt, commands an M4A3E8 Sherman tank called “Fury” and its five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines.
“I started this war, killing Germans in Africa. Now I’m killing Germans in Germany. I promised my crew a long time ago that I’d keep them alive!” said the rugged U.S Army Sergeant.
Alongside Brad Pitt, the film also stars Logan Lerman as the young Norman “Cobb” Ellison. The film also stars Shia LaBeouf as Boyd ‘Bible’ Swan, Michael Peña as US Army Corporal Trini “Gordo” Garcia and Walking Dead actor Jon Bernthal as Grady “Coon-Ass” Travis.
Ayer has told fans to expect “a movie about World War II the likes of which we haven’t seen before.” The filming of the World War II motion picture began on September 30, 2013 in the Oxfordshire countryside. The Pinewood Studios sent letters to the warn villagers of Shirburn, Pyrton and Watlington that there would be some gunfire and explosions during the filming of Fury.
Fury is set to be released in the U.S. on October 17, 2014. You can watch the trailer below. It is expected to close this year’s London Film Festival.
Last month, Brad Pitt wed long-time girlfriend Angelina Jolie in a small chapel at Chateau Miraval, the couple’s estate in southeastern France. Pitt will begin work in Malta on his wife Angelina Jolie’s third film as a director, By The Sea. It will be the first movie they have starred in together since meeting on the set of 2005’s action film Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
