Oscar Pistorius will soon learn the verdict of his murder trial, and those at home can follow live online with streaming video of the trial’s conclusion.

Pistorius is due to hear the verdict Thursday. The double-amputee, who was known by the nickname “Blade Runner” for the metal contraptions he uses to race in the Olympics, is accused of shooting girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp to death in the early morning hours of Valentine’s Day in 2013.

Oscar Pistorius has argued that he mistook his girlfriend for an intruder and shot her by accident.

Those who watch the Oscar Pistorius verdict live online could see him put away for a long time. The Olympic sprinter faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted of premeditated murder.

But given the complicated nature of the trial and charges Pistorius faces, the verdict may still not come at all on Thursday.

From The Star.

Judge Thokozile Masipa will first recount and analyze the evidence given by each of the nearly 40 witnesses in the criminal case that captured considerable international attention. The verdict on whether Pistorius intentionally killed girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp is expected to take hours, maybe days.

And if there are any convictions on the four charges Pistorius faces — murder and three unrelated firearm charges — sentences will only be decided later at a separate hearing.

Oscar Pistorius could face one of three verdicts. He could be acquitted or found guilty of murder, which means a judge finds that he intentionally killed Steenkamp. This would give him the longest prison sentence.

Pistorius could also be found guilty of culpable homicide, a charge that isn’t actually on the indictment. But a judge can find that he acted negligently in her death, even if he did not intend to kill her.
