Chrono Trigger coming to PSN next week (Seriously)

Remember when Sony announced that Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI would be coming to PSN a few weeks back? Well, as it turned out, Sony may have gotten a bit ahead of themselves; shortly after the announcement, they made another announcement that the posting was an “error”. Hopefully this next one isn’t an error..

Putting that little mishap behind them, Sony took to the PlayStation Blog today to announce that Chrono Trigger will be coming out on October 4 – for real this time, apparently.

“We’re happy to confirm that Chrono Trigger is coming to the PSN in North America on October 4th. That’s right—in just a few days, you’ll be able to visit (or re-visit, as I’m sure is the case for many of you) one of the most hilarious and unique casts of characters ever assembled in an RPG,” said Square Enix product manager Charles McCarter on the PlayStation Blog.

As previously mentioned, it’s worth noting that this version of Chrono Trigger was the port previously available through Final Fantasy Chronicles – you know, the one with the obnoxiously long load times. I’d say it’s worth the excessive waiting, though.

Unfortunately, no mention of Final Fantasy VI coming anytime soon was made, so we’ll probably have to wait a bit longer for that. We can’t be having two good things in one week, now can we?
