Matt Bryant Orders Chinese Food, Gets Robbed by Delivery Guy

Braselton, Ga. – Police say a man who delivered Chinese food to Atlanta Falcons placekicker Matt Bryant at his north Georgia home is accused of stealing the NFL player’s set of custom golf clubs.

According to local authorities, Kristian Vail, 22, of Flowery Branch, parked in Bryant’s Chateau Elan driveway Sept. 16 and saw an opportunity to lift the Mizuno bag full of clubs.

“He went into the open garage, took the clubs, delivered the food and went on his way,” said Braselton Police Assistant Chief Lou Solis.

Using the club’s serial numbers, investigators were able to track down the stolen equipment, valued at more than $3,000, through an Internet ad listing after they’d traded hands once, Solis went on to reveal.

The Internet posting led police to 22-year-old Michael Gibson, who told police he’d given Vail 80 Ecstasy pills in exchange for the bag and clubs.

Gibson was arrested on felony theft by receiving charges, and Vail on felony burglary charges. Both have posted $5,700 bond and were released from the Gwinnett County Jail, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

As for Matt Bryant’s custom clubs, all but three – one of which is a prized Scotty Cameron putter – have been recovered.
