Justice for Coran

A cam caught an attack on a man with mental disabilities in Delaware which led to the arrest of two teens.

According to NBC Philadelphia, police believe that the attack actually happened weeks ago, but videos that were posted on Instagram on Friday have just gone viral. The videos are extremely disturbing and very hard to watch.

“One video shows a teenager chasing after the man in front of an apartment complex. The man runs away from the teen, begging for him to leave him alone. The teen then grabs the man and body slams him to the ground as he screams out in agony. The teen then punches and kicks him in the head as his friends laugh in the background.”

The cam caught the attack of a 26-year-old man who mental disabilities. He suffers from neurodevelopmental disorder and was beaten so badly that he needed to go to the hospital. He was treated and has since been released. Apparently the victim is a really nice guy, one that wasn’t getting in anyone’s way or stepping on anyone’s toes. A 16-year-old student named Angeliz Marrero knows the victim and spoke about him to the media.

“He loves music and is very kind and is completely harmless. He loves to be out of the house just being active walking around.”

The attack caught on camera of the man with mental disabilities has started a social media trend. People have been using the hashtag “JusticeForCoran” and “TheBullyProject.” Many of the captions along with the victim’s photo read something like what’s below.

“This is Coran, a mentally challenged man from Delaware. What happened to him was disgusting. The videos are circulating all over Instagram, and by that they have already caught some of the teens involved. Some kids as young as 12 & 13 ganged up on this 20-year-old man on more than one occasion. They teased him, stalked him and beat him up. They kicked him, jumped on him, even picked him up and threw him, while one of the kids recorded this. This man is disabled and could not defend himself.. He cried and begged for them to stop, they only carried on laughing and kicking him harder…”

Police are still searching for others who were involved in the attacks. If you have any information, you are asked to call the New Castle County Police Department at 302-573-2800.

This isn’t the first time that a person with disabilities has been attacked. According to The Gaston Gazette, teenagers in Dallas beat and robbed a 17-year-old boy with disabilities just last week. A 16-year-old has been arrested and charged with common law robbery and assault on a disabled person, both of which are felonies. It is unknown if any of the other teens involved will face charges.

Attacks and beatings happen almost every day. On Sept. 8, the Inquisitr reported that an African-American teenage girl was beaten up at the school bus stop for “acting too white.”
