ISIS Beheads Lebanese Soldier Abbas Medlej, His Mother Finds Out On Twitter

ISIS militants beheaded a Lebanese soldier and his mom found out about it on Twitter. According to Mail Online, 20-year-old Abbas Medlej was one of 19 Lebanese soldiers captured by the extremist militants last month. His murder was shown in a series of photographs posted on Twitter by an account believed to be run by ISIS fighters. When Medlej’s mother, Zeinab Noun, saw the photos and realized that it was her son who had been beheaded, she broke down. “My son has been sacrificed,” she said.

A Twitter message believed to have been posted by ISIS confirmed that it was Medlej that had been punished for trying to escape from prison.

“In the name of God the merciful, in the Islamic country of Damascus city Kalmoun area, today and in a disgraceful way, the Lebanese soldier name Abbas Madlej tried to escape from prison. He tried to shoot our comrade soldiers of our country. Thank God we managed to control the situation and neutralize him. His fate was slaughter. Thank God. God meant it to be.”

According to, the photos of Abbas Medlej’s beheading are extremely graphic. One photo shows the young soldier lying in a pool of his own blood. The other (shown above), shows Medlej on his knees just before his execution. Lebanon’s military is still investigating the incident despite the confirmations coming from ISIS, Medlej’s mother, and his uncle, Abu Ali Noun.

Abbas Medlej is the second captive Lebanese soldier to be killed by ISIS militants.

ISIS militants have made specific threats to the United States, warning of terrorist attacks. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, there was some concern about Fort Bliss in Texas becoming a major target. Some intelligence suggests that car bombs are being set up in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, which is just 15 miles from the army post. Even still, the Obama Administration has not taken any significant action (i.e. deploy the National Guard to the area).

According to Time Magazine, Barack Obama will outline his plan to fight ISIS on Wednesday. “I just want the American people to understand the nature of the threat and how we’re going to deal with it,” Obama explained during an interview with Chuck Todd on Meet The Press.
