British Islamist Anjem Choudary is an influential, yet controversial cleric, who preaches to Muslims in Great Britain. He told reporters recently that the Islamic State is the kind of society he would “love to live it.”
The hate preacher, who is well known in Britain, went even further and stated the unthinkable when he said that he admired the makeshift state of ISIS However, he added that he had no plans to travel to Syria to enjoy the numerous benefits of living under the Islamic State just yet.
Choudary told the Observer newspaper,
“From what I understand from people living there, they have security, schools are now being set up where their children are taught about Islam, and they have the basic needs of food, clothing and shelter. They don’t see in the public arena things like alcohol, drugs, gambling, these kinds of vices. They’ve been completely wiped out. I think in many respects it’s the kind of society I’d love to live in with my family. Many people I know think the same. That doesn’t mean that we’re going to train and come back and carry out operations here.”
“Food, clothing and shelter,” well that’s nice Mr Choudary, but what about being beheaded for being Christian, or just simply non-Muslim? Is that the kind of education you want to give your children?
The Guardian reported that a study in 2013 by campaign group Hope Not Hate warned about the serious threat people like Choudary pose to Great Britain as they influence and radicalize young Muslims who even go to fight with ISIS in Syria and Iraq.
The study notes that organizations affiliated with Choudary have encouraged at least 80 British Muslims to join ISIS in Syria and have recruited at least 300 on the continent.
Choudary is a slippery snake as he cynically exploits free speech laws in his home country of England and uses that freedom to spew hatred in order to fulfill his vision of a Muslim-run world, presumably with him somewhere at the top of it.
Characters like Choudary are well-known to British anti-terror authorities which have been monitoring him for many years. His aims are explicit, as he outlines in his Islam4UK website, which really says it all.
The site claims that Islam4UK was set up explicitly to take over the United Kingdom by influencing public opinion and getting influential Islamists into power. Choudary spoke about the site,
“Established by sincere Muslims as a platform to propagate the supreme Islamic ideology within the United Kingdom as a divine alternative to man-made law”, and to “convince the British public about the superiority of Islam thereby changing public opinion in favour of Islam in order to transfer the authority and power to the Muslims in order to implement the Sharee’ah (here in Britain).”
Hopefully, the British authorities will find good reason to arrest and deport Anjem Choudary, possibly to Syria with his family, so he can enjoy all the wonderful benefits of life under ISIS, first hand.
