Michelle Duggar, who you may know from reality TV show 19 Kids and Counting, spoke recently about her views on a successful marriage and how she pulls that off with husband, Jim Bob.
She revealed some personal secrets about how she keeps the flames of romance alive with her husband, despite the fact they literally have a full house due to so many children.
The Epoch Times reported that the Duggar Matriarch’s first piece of advice on the quest for a perfect marriage is “Keep your spouse on your toes,” as she said during a recent Facebook chat.
Number two on the list is date night, an event Michelle Duggar claims is a must at least once a week ; it’s an event they have enjoyed since before they had any children all those years ago.
In revealing her secrets Duggar spoke on the family blog about how much more spontaneous her husband is than her,
“Jim Bob is so much more spontaneous than I am. I like to plan ahead and think about it for days and always have my ducks in a row. But I’ve learned to just jump and go; it’s so much more fun that way. If we’ve got something happening on our regular date night, Jim Bob usually will just call me up on a weekday and ask me out on a date. It’s really sweet, he’ll call up and say, ‘Hey, can I come and steal you away for a date?’ Then he’ll surprise me and take me for lunch between his office work and my work at home.”
Like any couple that enjoy a date night, even if they can’t manage it once a week like the Duggars, the main thing is the quality time spent during the night, as Michelle noted,
“When it’s quiet and there are no interruptions. We really enjoy that because we’re not around a lot of people then, and we can catch up with each other. Other times, we’ll go out for a coffee or ice cream, which is my favorite weekly sweet treat, or occasionally a nice meal.”
It may sound simple to you, but sometimes the simple things in life are the best things. This certainly seems to be the case in the marriageof Michelle Duggar and Jim Bob who appear to have the right ingredients and chemistry to keep their marriage alive — even after 19 kids and counting!
