Selena Gomez Inks Record Deal With Interscope, ‘Greatest Hits’ Coming

Selena Gomez has more than just Justin Bieber to smile about.

The actress-singer has now signed a new record deal with Interscope, after seven years at Disney’s Hollywood Records.

According to Hits Daily Double, Gomez’s music career will be personally guided by John Janick, Interscope CEO and Chairman, who took over from co-founder Jimmy Lovine this May. Other artists on the division include Maroon 5, One Republic, Imagine Dragons, Lady Gaga and Eminem.

It’s said Janick beat off other majors who wanted to sign Selena, following her #1 debut on Billboard’s 200 album chart last year with her Stars Dance album and #1 pop perfection hit “Come & Get It.”

Part of the blurb in the Interscope-approved announcement talks up Selena’s social media presence, and it can’t be denied that the work of any record company promotions team will be delighted at the starlet’s online numbers.

While at Disney, Gomez punched in total sales of 2.8 million, built up 22.7 million followers on the Twitter network, rover 13 million on Instagram and a stonking 4.5 million YouTube channel subscribers, with over 1.7 total video views.

Like other kids’ TV to music starlets, Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande, Selena’s credits — including “Barney & Friends” and “Wizards of Waverly Place” — brought in audiences she may take with her as her career moves to the next level.

Over on the movies side, back in April The Hollywood Reporter revealed Selena signed with WME and Brillstein talent agency after relieving her mother and step-father of their management roles.

The starlet’s work in ensemble movie Spring Breakers gave her fans a taste of maturer fare. Later films, The Getaway and Behaving Badly were regressions, but the William H. Macy-directed Rudderless brought Gomez some good reviews.

All in all, it’s all positive for the 22-year-old starlet, after a reorganization of her business.

With one more album still owed at Disney’s Hollywood Records, Gomez will reportedly be releasing a “Greatest Hits” album by the end of this year.

Meanwhile, after a roller coaster emotional ride with Bieber last year and this, the couple’s Canada break continues.

Selena and Justin were first spotted in Canada on August 27 before enjoying a string of recreational pursuits.

Drama erupted after the pair were followed by allegedly reckless paparazzi and somehow Bieber — who was driving an ATV at the time, with Selena as a passenger — collided with their minivan.

The Canadian singer was later arrested and charged with dangerous driving and assault, but TMZ reported sources in the Biebs’ camp deny any physical altercation took place.

Gomez has now returned to Canada after a few days in New York City hosting her line for adidas NEO at a runway fashion show.

The couple were spotted browsing at the exclusive Holt Renfrew shopping mall in Toronto on Saturday, the same day Bieber posted a photo of the pair on his Shots account.
