Who’s Designing Amal Alamuddin’s Wedding Dress? George Clooney’s Bride Visits London Design House

Amal Alamuddin is set to marry long-time bachelor George Clooney later this month, and the London-based human rights lawyer’s every move is being tracked by the media. At least, her conspicuous visits to famous houses of design in the U.K. are watched closely.

Alamuddin was spotted at the headquarters of Alexander McQueen Thursday, where she spent an hour and a half inside. Those details come courtesy of the Daily Mail, which also noted Alamuddin said goodbye to a woman wearing a pincushion. The implication was that the woman was a seamstress and Alamuddin was getting a fitting.

Earlier speculation, such as the known-details published in the National Post, was that Alamuddin was going to wear a dress made by Oscar de la Renta. That designer outfitted former first daughter Jenna Bush and actress Katherine Heigl for their weddings. Sarah Burton of the McQueen house, however, has a much more prominent credential: the design of Kate Middleton’s gown for her 2012 marriage to Prince William. The Daily Mail called the phenomenon of fashionistas following the Duchess of Cambridge in her style choices “the Kate effect.”

Ironically, the floral dress Alamuddin was seen wearing into the Alexander McQueen headquarters was, according to the Daily Mail, a piece by Oscar de la Renta.

E! Online notes the dress-making duties might not actually fall to either Oscar de la Renta or Alexander McQueen. There has been talk Alamuddin will choose a designer from Lebanon such as Elie Saab or Zuhair Murad.

As for the men’s styling, the National Post reports a Giorgio Armani crew went to Clooney’s home on Italy’s Lake Como to fit the groom and the male members of his party. Who will attend to George is still a secret, but known buddy Brad Pitt is said to be on the guest list, as are Matt Damon, Bono, and Cindy Crawford’s husband Rande Gerber. Other big names that made the invite list include Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts, and Sandra Bullock. Pitt is said to attend with new bride Angelina Jolie.

In addition to her actions that might shed light on wedding details — such as covert visits to fashion houses — paparazzi have been watching Alamuddin for another sign of permanency in her relationship with Clooney: the baby bump. Recently, when Alamuddin was spotted with an apparent bulge beneath her dress, media speculated she might be pregnant. That rumor was refuted by Clooney and Alamuddin, as The Inquisitr reported this week.

When the wedding happens, all eyes are sure to be on the ring on Alamuddin’s finger.
