‘Super Troopers 2’ Is In The Works Right Meow

News of Super Troopers 2 has been wandering the rumor mill for quite some time, much like the rumors about a new installment in the Ghostbusters franchise. In a surprising announcement from Jay Chandrasekhar, it looks as though we could see the next Super Troopers movie rather soon.

“We’re close to signing.”

Much like news of the upcoming Ghostbusters movie, there is not a lot of information about Super Troopers 2, other than it will happen. Jay Chandrasekhar gave The Nerdist a little bit of information, but not a lot.

“Well look, rather than make one where Joe Pesci comes in with blonde hair, we’re just going to do another one. The mustaches are going to be a little bigger, but basically, it’s going to be a really similar style movie.”

Steve Lemme, recently shared that the script is complete for Super Troopers 2, the only thing missing was the cash to make the film a reality.

“The script is written, the deal has been agreed on with the studio, we are in the stage though where we need to raise the financing. It’s nothing out of the ordinary. The studio is just the distributor, and we are the ones who have to bring the money to the table. So it’s a lot of money that we have to raise.”

Finding a good idea in Hollywood and creating a script is the easy part of the creative process. Sadly, finding the right representation to move it forward, and the finances to back you is not always easy to come by. As a writer myself, I can create a short story in a matter of hours and find a home to publish it fairly quick. Not all of the places that those stories land pay for the works that I create. My name is recognizable in the horror circles; much like Super Troopers is in the world of comedy film, well maybe not as well known as Super Troopers. However, finding the right funding for the project can be quite an obstacle to overcome. There is no doubt that the film will be successful, based on the cult following of the first film alone. We can only hope that it lives up to the hype, in the long run.

Despite the money needed to star filming, I think that we can all agree that we are all anxious to see the film and would love to have it available right meow!
