Al Pacino has revealed that he was one of the millions upon millions of movie fans from across the globe that were wowed by Guardians Of The Galaxy when it hit cinemas just a few weeks ago.

The legendary actor has now even revealed that if he was asked to star in the sequel to James Gunn’s sci-fi space opera that he would consider taking the role. “I would do anything that I could understand in terms of how I fit in it,” he declared after being asked if he would star in Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 or any Marvel film. “Any you know, of course if I could fit in it. Anything’s possible.”

Pacino then recalled that he was even nominated for an Academy Award for one of his most outrageous performances. “You know, I did Dick Tracy and I got an Oscar nomination, so come on. I mean, what can I say?” he declared.

Who could Pacino play in Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 though? Well, how about Peter Quill’s father, who was magnificently teased in the origin story for the eclectic posse. Pacino would instantly bring gravitas to the character just with his presence, and he would clearly enjoy being involved in such a quirky production.

The Dog Day Afternoon actor’s comments came after he raved about the first adventure of Peter Quill, Rocket Raccoon, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer and Groot. “I just saw Guardians of the Galaxy… It was amazing. I did find it the most entertaining, inventive, beautiful film,” he admitted. “It was not something I would readily go see, but my kids got me to go, and one has to draw the line at where prejudice starts and where it ends – that was good stuff!”

As well as recognising the film’s obvious appeal, Pacino also noted that he saw subtle depths to the blockbuster too: “I recognized the ingenious stuff they were doing; the invention, the attractiveness of the way they were performing it. It had Shakespearean feeling to it at time. I was caught up in the big screen, the great sound.”

As you can probably guess, Gunn was over the moon with Pacino’s comments, and, according to Comic Book, he responded by declaring: “One of the great things about making Guardians Of The Galaxy is getting so many messages from folks in the industry whom I admire. But, honestly, being a The Godfather and The Godfather 2 FANATIC, this one just might take the cake.”
