Sarah Silverman Calls Joan Rivers ‘Ridiculous,’ Refuses Co-Gig Unless She Wakes

Sarah Silverman has a message for Joan Rivers: Wake up and get discharged from the hospital soon, or their upcoming gig is off.

As the world awaits updates about the condition of the feisty fashionista critic and funnywoman, one comic went against the grain and did what she does best.

Rivers’ Fashion Police co-hosts, Kelly Osbourne and Giuliana Rancic, joined in with a growing lists of celebrities, and left heartfelt messages of their own on Twitter. But it was Sarah Silverman’s that stood out among the noise.

Sunday, Joan’s daughter, Melissa Rivers, released a short statement to the public.

Thank you for your continued love and support. We are keeping our fingers crossed.”

Reportedly, Rivers, 81, is in the process of being brought out of a coma. Since the veteran comedienne is in advanced age and was said to be on life support, the situation is very delicate, according to the latest reports.

Joan Rivers will require as many as four days for the process to complete. However, doctors are concerned about her ability to walk or worse: being left in a vegetative state due to her brain being deprived of oxygen when complications from the surgery took place.

As previously reported by The Inquistir, Joan was in a clinic receiving outpatient surgery on her throat. The day before, she performed her stand-up routine at a venue in Manhattan.

During the procedure, she reportedly stopped breathing and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. There, doctors placed her in a medically-induced coma.

Sarah Silverman’s chiding of Joan Rivers is what her idol would have wanted her to do, without question. Rivers’ mix of humor, largely self-deprecating, is what paved the wave for generations of comediennes like Silverman, Kathy Griffin, Amy Schumer, and many others.

Last month, Sarah won an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special for her part in the HBO comedy special We Are Miracles. The piece ran in November of last year.

It’s unknown what “gig” Sarah Silverman was referring to when she posted her tweet about Joan Rivers, but more than likely, the duo was teaming up at the Oddball Comedy Fest. Silverman has been hard at work headlining the event with a number of fellow entertainers like Whitney Cummings, Ron Funches, Jeff Ross, Michael Che, Jermaine Fowler, and more.
