I doubt many people woke up this week saying, “I’d like to see Kathy Griffin’s ice bucket challenge, but only if she is naked.”
But apparently financial expert Suze Orman did, or so Kathy Griffin said, so the queen of shock factor went ahead and did the ice bucket challenge completely and totally naked.
For anyone wanting to see the blurred version of the Kathy Griffin Ice Bucket Challenge, it is embedded above.
To just read and find out why she did it without having to see it in all its glory, check this out from Mediaite, who posted a story about the challenge after it appeared on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live.
“‘I thought I should take it up a notch,’ Griffin said, before she showed her unabashed video to the world. She received from assistance from the Backstreet Boys’ A.J. McLean and Parks and Recreation’s Aubrey Plaza, who both challenged Griffin to douse herself for the ALS Association.
“As traumatizing as it is to get ice cold water poured over yourself while fully clothes, doing it utterly naked on late night television is 100 times worse, for everyone involved.”
So just how much money has the challenge, including the Kathy Griffin Ice Bucket Challenge, raised for the ALS Assocation? According to Forbes, donations have increased 3,500 percent since the challenge started to go viral earlier this summer.
“On Friday morning, the ALS Association announced that donations related to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge — the social media-powered video challenge, where participants pour a bucket of ice water on their heads and dare others to donate — have topped $100 million in the past month.
That’s a 3,500% increase from the $2.8 million that the ALS Association raised during the same time period last year. More than three million people have donated, the association says.”
That is nothing to shake a stick at. But for a worthy cause that has taken the world by storm, everyone knew it was bound to find a controversy or have controversy find it. The controversy that seems to be sticking with many pro-lifers is the fact that embryonic stem cell research could be funded through donations to the ALS Association, something pro-lifers are adamantly against.
Either way, the challenge brought us Kathy Griffin’s NUDE ice bucket challenge and while it may not be everyone’s desire to see a middle aged woman strip down for an Internet stunt, it is sort of funny. Or no? Tell us what you think in the comments section below.
