Clint Eastwood And One Direction: An Unlikely Alliance

Clint Eastwood, the 84-year-old screen legend, is apparently also a fitness advisor to One Direction’s Harry Styles.

The actor/director was said to have introduced 20-year-old styles to a proper fitness regimen in Krav Maga, an Israeli style of defense that combines boxing, wrestling, Savate, Wing Chun, Judo, Muay Thai, and Jujutsu.

Eastwood added that such a battery of fitness testing would give Styles a better chance of picking up lead acting roles should the crooner want to take his career in that direction instead of One Direction.

According to an anonymous source, reported here by NZ City, “Clint spoke to Harry about his future in Tinseltown. They discussed movie projects and then got on to the subject of achieving an action hero’s physique. Clint had plenty to say on what Harry should do if he ever wanted to be considered leading man material.”

As a result of the encounter, Styles and two of his other bandmates — Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson — have started implementing Krav Maga into their workout routine.

“Louis and Liam are also raving about KM now,” the source stated. “They’ve even been having a body competition — comparing their biceps over Instagram!”

Even if One Direction isn’t in your playlist, it’s hard to see this as anything but a good thing.

On the one hand, you’ve got Clint Eastwood, who continues to stay relevant in any way that he can. His acting career hasn’t been quite the cannonball it once was since he had to give up action movie roles, but he’s compensated with excellent directorial performances — Mystic River, Million Dollar Baby, and the upcoming American Sniper, to name a few.

Meanwhile, Harry Styles and the rest of One Direction, who play to a considerably different audience, are paying their respects and giving credit where it’s due.

It almost makes you want to see the guys turn up in a movie with lots of explosions. Boy, wouldn’t that be something?

As of now, Styles and the gang do not have any big deal movie roles on the horizon, but you never know. They haven’t really been talking about it until recently. You’ve got to think now that the word is out, Hollywood will be champing at the bit to put them in something.
