Miley Cyrus’ Homeless VMA Date, Jesse Helt, Turns Himself Into The Police

The 22-year-old homeless man who accompanied Miley Cyrus to the MTV VMA Awards, Jesse Helt, turned himself in to the Polk County Jail on Sunday. He was booked on a violation of probation that stemmed from a criminal trespass and criminal mischief conviction. After checking in, he quickly posted $2,500 U.S. in bail and will appear before a judge within two weeks.

Jesse Helt was sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to misdemeanor criminal mischief and criminal trespass in the apartment of a dealer who he believed was selling bad marijuana. After serving his jail sentence of 30 days, the probation was issued to finish off his sentence. The arrest warrant was issued in the city of Dallas, Oregon, which resides in Polk County, in 2011. However, Jesse moved to Los Angeles soon after to find work as a model.

According to Trevor Neilson, the president of G2 Investment Group and co-founder of Global Philanthropy Group, Miley is going to help Jesse Helt though the process.

“Jesse Helt turned himself in tonight to Polk County authorities to address his outstanding legal issues. Miley Cyrus will be assisting him with this process, and they both are committed to working to help the other 1.6 million youth who experience homelessness in America each year.”

Jesse Helt’s Mother, Linda, expressed her appreciation.

“God gets the glory and she gets the credit.”

Jesse Helt had his 15 minutes of fame when he approached the stage during the MTV VMA awards, in place if Miley Cyrus, to accept the video of the year award.

“I am accepting this award on behalf of the 1.6 million runaways and homeless youth in the United States who are starving, lost, and scared for their lives right now. I know this because I am one of these people.”

It appears as though Miley Cyrus has latched on to Jesse Helt, although it is not clear whether they are lovers of just friends, as she has decided to move in with him. She may only be staying with him to ensure his legal fees and responsibilities are taken care of properly. It is not yet known if Jesse will be the rags to riches story we all talk about within the next couple of years. Regardless, the compassion that Miley is showing Mr. Helt is beyond admirable. As a celebrity of her caliber, she could easily have walked away from him after the show, but instead she has chosen to stand by his side.
