Glenn Close Wins Donostia Lifetime Achievement Award, Vows to Continue Acting

Actress Glenn Close assured fans she won’t be retiring any time soon as she picked up the prestigious Donostia lifetime achievement award in Spain on Sunday.

Close, whose long-running movie career has spanned four decades, is best known for her roles as femme fatale in Dangerous Liasons, the deranged stalker Alex Forrest in Fatal Attraction, and Cruella de Vil in 101 Dalmations.

During her acceptance speech at the 2011 San Sebastian International Film Festival, the 64-year-old Damages star expressed her gratitude and vowed to continue acting for as long as she can.

“This is the first lifetime achievement award I’ve ever received,” Close revealed. “And what I am thinking of is the army of people I have collaborated with over the course of my career. They have inspired me. Challenged me…”

Ms. Close wrapped up her speech by saying: ” I pledge to continue to find stories that I hope you will love and characters that you can find a common thread of humanity with.”

In addition to receiving the Donostia, Close is scheduled to present her latest film, Albert Nobbs, set in 19th century Ireland, in which she plays a woman who disguises herself as a man to get a job in a hotel.
