2014 Emmys: Sarah Silverman’s ‘Liquid Pot’ Red Carpet Accessory

Funnywoman Sarah Silverman brought along a unique accessory to the Emmys Monday night, as revealed during a pre-show red carpet interview with E!’s Giuliana Rancic.

The 43-year-old comedian flaunted a vaporizer pen during a segment called ‘Clutch Cam,’ which highlights celebrity purses and the contents inside of them. Silverman showed off some fairly normal belongings inside her handbag, including a driver’s license, cosmetics and a phone case; but things got interesting when Sarah presented her liquid THC vape pen. “This is my pot,” the former Sarah Silverman Program star proclaimed, seemingly unphased. “It’s liquid pot.”

Silverman was a nominee at this year’s awards and took home an Emmy for Outstanding Writing For a Variety Special for her HBO comedy special We Are Miracles. After being announced as the winner in the category, Sarah kicked off her shoes and sprinted up the stairs to the stage, and followed with an acceptance speech that was in true Sarah Silverman fashion. The speech included a nod to Silverman’s British actor boyfriend Michael Sheen and the Los Angeles club Largo, where her Emmy-winning comedy special was filmed. She ended on a somewhat bizarre note with the actress proclaiming “we’re all just molecules and we’re hurling through space right now.”

Silverman’s speech and antics throughout the night led to speculation that the star was high during the show at the Nokia Theater. On Twitter, actress Anna Kendrick appeared amused by the seemingly stoned comedian. “Silverman in Barefoot and #HAF”, tweeted Kendrick. “Live your life girl!”

In post-show interviews, Sarah denied being under the influence during the Emmys, but did reportedly proclaim to “like to have a puff as a treat, at appropriate times.” This isn’t the first time that the comedy giant has made reference to using the drug, which is currently legal in the state of California. In November of 2013, she admitted that she smokes “a lot of pot.”

Silverman’s now Emmy-winning stand-up special Sarah Silverman:We Are Miracles was the comedian’s first ever solo special for HBO and was performed in front of an audience of just 39 people at L.A.’s legendary Largo nightclub.

The School of Rock actress, who began her career in stand-up, had a brief stint as a writer and occasional performer on Saturday Night Live. She recently appeared with Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane in his live-action comedy A Million Ways To Die In the West, recently joined the cast of the the critically-acclaimed Showtime series Masters of Sex, which is in its second season. The show stars Sarah’s boyfriend Sheen and was recently renewed for a third season.
