Simon Cowell Assembling Girl Group On ‘The X Factor’

Simon Cowell always has his eyes on the future, which is why the X Factor UK mastermind is putting together another group of talented singers.

At this point, you probably know that Cowell is responsible for putting together and managing One Direction. The group is one of the biggest acts in the world at the moment, though even he seems to understand that every group has a built-in expiration date. Although he’s not sure when 1D will come to a bitter end, he believes the singers still have at least two more albums in them at the very least.

According to Female First, Simon Cowell is busy assembling a group of girls for a group the website claims is very Girls Aloud in nature. Reports indicate that Cowell has snagged five contestants who didn’t make it through the Boot Camp portion of The X Factor UK. Instead of sending them home, he’s putting them in a band.

An anonymous source sitting on a mound of insider info had this to say about the situation. Note: It’s always good to take this stuff with a grain of salt.

“The girls all auditioned separately but didn’t quite make the cut. Luckily, Simon decided to intervene. He told them they all have something special and that they could work as a vocal harmony group if they bonded well. So the girls have worked on that. They aren’t quite as polished as some of the other groups, but they are all very pretty, talented singers.”

The source added that one of the girls in Simon Cowell’s new girl group once performed in a Cheryl Fernandez-Versini cover band. Considering Cheryl is one of the X Factor UK judges, this probably worked in singer’s favor. As of this writing, Cowell and company haven’t come up with a name for the band. Last we heard, Danity Kane is up for grabs.

Here’s hoping Simon Cowell chooses his words a bit more carefully when discussing the girl group’s future. The former American Idol judge recently caused a bit of a problem when he suggested the One Direction guys would go their separate ways in the near future. However, he quickly tried to set everything straight.
