Nicki Minaj Backup Dancer Bitten By Snake During MTV VMAs Rehearsal
One of Nicki Minaj’s backup dancers was bitten by a fellow performer during the rapper’s MTV Video Music Awards rehearsal. However, the performer wasn’t human.
According to a report by TMZ, Minaj was planning to incorporate a real snake into her MTV VMAs performance. However, the reptile might have ruined its chance at becoming a big star by sinking its fangs into a dancer’s flesh.
In “Baby Got Back,” the song that Nicki Minaj samples extensively in “Anaconda,” Sir Mix-A-Lot sings, “My anaconda don’t want none unless you’ve got buns, hun.” Minaj’s dancer must have “packed much back,” because it sounds like the 6-foot snake was ready to make a meal out of her.
However, the hungry reptile wasn’t an anaconda. According to MTV News, the dancer was bitten by a boa constrictor named Rocky that has been in the entertainment biz for 15 years. The woman was taken to a hospital and checked out just in case the non-venomous snake was harboring any bacteria that could cause an infection, but her injuries were not life-threatening.
The boa constrictor was caught and placed inside a container, and MTV News reports that the cantankerous critter won’t get to perform at the MTV VMAs. Instead, the snake will be replaced by another boa constrictor or python.
This won’t be the first time one of the reptiles has slithered its way onto the VMAs stage. In 2001, Britney Spears performed “I’m A Slave 4 U” with an albino Burmese python draped on her shoulders.
From the sounds of it, Nicki Minaj wasn’t brave enough to wear a snake for her performance — she made that poor dancer rock the reptile instead. However, she was nice enough to check up on the dancer after she was bitten:
“The music was stopped shortly after the dancer was bitten and a concerned Minaj said, ‘Did she get bit by the snake?’ Nicki quickly moved across the stage to check on the dancer, who was positioned toward the back of the set, to see if she was OK.”
Instead of trying to top Britney Spears’ 2001 MTV VMAs performance, Nicki Minaj’s focus might be on outdoing Miley Cyrus’ outrageous antics from last year. As The Inquisitr previously reported, Miley recently got underneath the rapper’s skin by sharing a “Hannah Conda” parody of Minaj’s “Anaconda” cover art that featured her head photoshopped on Nicki’s body. Minaj probably knows that people will be comparing her performance to Cyrus’ twerktastic tongue-fest, so hopefully she has something wilder planned than an appearance by a wild animal.
