Britney Spears Not Lip Syncing: Reps Refute Rumor As Fans Ask ‘Is It Britney or Sia?’ [Video]

Is it Britney or Sia? Representatives for Britney Spears said she was not lip syncing during a recent performance, contrary to recent rumors. The blonde beauty’s reps came to her defense after fans thought she was mouthing the words during Sia’s part of the song “Perfume.” A rep for the singer said it’s just “not true.”

Britney or Sia? It’s Britney all the way, reported Mail Online, citing an exclusive statement from one of the star’s representatives.

The scandal started on Saturday when Britney Spears stood on the Las Vegas stage to sing “Perfume.” Sia sings backup vocals on the studio recordings of the song. However, she was not in Las Vegas to perform with Spears. Yet, as the song played, fans thought they heard Sia’s voice drifting through the venue. To make matters worse, Britney was moving her lips to the lyrics.

According to Britney Spears’s rep, there’s a perfectly logical explanation for the Britney or Sia? confusion. During the singer’s Piece Of Me show at the Planet Hollywood theater, Spears sang a version of “Perfume” that simply did not include Sia. That voice fans heard belonged to Britney herself, the rep told Mail Online.

This isn’t Britney Spears’s first lip syncing scandal. Earlier this year, the pop star was caught on video as her microphone flew off. She continued singing without her mic pack, and her vocals remained clear and steady. The snafu served to prove that she was lip syncing to the tune rather than singing live.

Months after that lip syncing episode, Britney Spears’s manager Adam Leber offered up an excuse for the incident.

“To put on the show that she puts on, it’s virtually impossible to sing the entire time and do what she does.

She’s singing on every song, basically, when she has the ability to sing. There’s no way you can dance for 90 minutes straight and sing the entire time.”

Britney Spears is receiving an estimated $15 million per year to perform onstage in Las Vegas, which may or may not include lip syncing depending upon whom you ask.

On-again, off-again manager Larry Rudolph said something similar about the whole Britney Spears lip syncing issue back in September 2013 when he spoke with Billboard.

“She’s going to be singing live. She does choreography and vocal coaching every day. The vocal coaching is really just to strengthen her voice and get her to a point where she can go out there every night and do a full show.”

“It’s hard for the public to fully understand what goes on when you get on stage and you’re dancing full out during a song. No matter what anyone says, there’s not a single artist who goes out there and does full choreography and is singing without a vocal track underneath them at the same time.”

“It’s physically impossible. We’re just trying to build up her stamina and get her to a point where she can do as much as humanly possible. The idea is to try to get her pretty close to 100%.”

“There might be some numbers where she’s full out dancing with a (vocal) track underneath her, but there won’t be any lip-syncing across the board on anything.”

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, the pop princess started the lip syncing rumors when fans thought they heard Sia’s vocals rather than Britney’s and posted the supposed scandal on Instagram, where it quickly went viral. However, as noted, the singer’s reps claim it just isn’t true.

Britney or Sia? Listen and decide for yourself.
